Vingroup officially introduces Vingroup Innovation Foundation – VinIF

Vingroup Innovation Foundation committed to support organizations and individuals to conduct scientific, technological and innovative research in order to create positive and sustainable changes for Vietnam.

The official website of Vingroup Innovation Foundation VinIF has already been introduced with the first announcement about the funding program which supports universities to conduct scientific research in 2019. The Scientific Director of VinIF is Professor Vu Ha Van.

The representatives stated that VinIF would support organizations and individuals to conduct scientific, technological and innovative research, in order to create positive and sustainable changes for Vietnam. The Foundation’s annual program aims to support Vietnamese scientists in carrying out outstanding projects with great social influence, high applicability, as well as modern approaches and technologies. .

The objective of VinIF is to contribute to promoting the introduction of international-level research projects and technological solutions that bring practical benefits to the community. Moreover, we aims at building a team of dynamic and talented scientists, as well as creating favorable conditions for scientists to develop their research and innovation capabilities. Since then, the Foundation aspires to join hands in changing Vietnamese research culture; building ecosystems to boost applied research and connect researchers, institutes, universities with businesses.

Scientists who are working in Vietnam and having doctorate degree, as well as research experience and achievements will be prioritized for receiving the support. In case the project manager is a Vietnamese residing overseas, the minimum working time in the country is 3 months / year during the research period. The number of foreigners participating in the project does not exceed 30%.

The program prioritizes the areas of modern technology research associated with big data. For other areas, the Foundation will consider projects that are truly groundbreaking and have great impacts on society.

Notably, this year, selecting research documents will be taken by the domestic science and technology council. The council of foreign science and technology experts will be in charge of appraising them. It is expected that the Foundation will receive proposals from Jan 1 to March 31 and the evaluation will take place from April 1 to July 15. VinIF will then announce the results so that contracts with approved projects can be signed from September.
